Big Instore are the masters of point of purchase displays. With offices in Cambridge and London, we offer the design, manufacture and installation of display stands worldwide.
We’re proud to work with global brands, such as Puma and FootJoy, on a range of high-profile projects, along with many other brands across a range of sectors within the retail space.
The key to our success is the team we’ve built - not just our staff but within our supply chain.
Established in 2005, we’re a group of people who love what we do and are great at working together. We work with, not for, our clients, and many consider us an extension of their own brands.
We’ve built our business based on repeat work through long standing relationships, with many customer relationships spanning 18 years and counting! It’s not just the quality controlled manufacturing, the clever concepts, the detailed engineering and the fine tuned project management that makes our point of purchase displays a success - it’s that initial meeting and ongoing communication about your brand’s project. We like to listen, and we like to learn.
The ultimate goal of any point of purchase (POP) display is to get your product noticed, picked up, and purchased.
We understand products are different, and price points make consumers’ shopping experiences very different. It’s the point of purchase that has seconds to grab the shopper’s attention, educate them and intrigue them enough to pick the product up. Once it’s picked up, more often than not, it goes in the trolley. From concept through to completion, we work together with you from the offset to deliver point of purchase displays that enhance the in-store shopping experience for your customers and ultimately deliver your business a measurable return on investment (ROI).
There are lots to think about with point of purchase displays, and you must consider everything while making your choice.
We’ll help you do this and hold your hand all the way through the purchase process.
This is one of the most important questions when designing a concept for a point of purchase project. There are no limitations to material choices within Big Instore, so we’re working blind without a budget. Give us a budget, and we can choose the most appropriate material for the job and even consider if tech is an option to include.
It’s important to note that just because you’ve given us a high budget - doesn’t mean we’ll use it, but it does allow us to push boundaries when coming up with ideas.
Again, another key player in our designs’ direction. Factors like temperature, draft & environment make a massive difference to the substrate we choose to design your display stand project from. We’ll want to ensure the display stand we design will last the term you’re selling products for.
It’s not just the physical environment that’s important to note, but the competing products or brands in the same space. How are they merchandising their products? Do you want to appear as the cheaper alternative or as an equal or more premium version? Sharing information like this helps massively.
Again, the previous 2 points will help to determine which material we suggest for your project, but you may have your own reasons for specific materials being used on your point of purchase display. We’re not tied to specific materials as a visual merchandising agency rather than a manufacturing factory.
We won’t try and sell you a steel display if we think timber will be better. We have the freedom of choice and the experience to source the most cost-effective solution.
Once we’ve gone through the points above, our team will start working on concepts for your point of purchase display project. The word team is important here. A concept designer will work with the project manager and structural engineer to ensure we create something that looks fantastic and works safely within the intended environment. There’s no point in presenting ideas that look great, but that won’t work. We take every care to ensure all our displays are fit for purpose.
The world is changing so quickly, and it’s important to keep up. Tech is a big part of point of purchase, and it’s important to use it for all of its strengths. There are so many things to consider, though and sometimes difficult to know where to start.
We consider SEG Lightboxes among the most primitive tech types - but we love them. Updating the graphics and incorporating the frames into display stands is simple. Your next step up will be a commercial grade monitor / TV - we have a trade account with all the main TV brands.
Finally, content - good old-fashioned USB sticks in the back, or would you prefer to manage everything from your desk? It often comes down to how regularly you will update and across how many sites.
We even offer lift and learn technology. Pickup a product and specific content will be played on the digital screen. We love this tech - it’s great for footwear, beauty products and power tools. Anything where you’re not disrupting the journey to the till but educating the consumer while they’ve got the product in their hands.
What better way to present point of purchase ideas or full fit-out / shopfitting projects, than in virtual reality. If you’ve got a Quest headset we can send you files to experience our designs in a virtual world environment. What better way to truly feel the impact of our concepts. If you don’t have a headset, fear not, it’s also awesome to experience it online. Check-out some of the examples below. Just click to move around.
Don’t be surprised if we ask you to send us some demo products. We’re not after freebies - we just like to test out what we’re making. We can just use weights, but it is not the same. We like to load up our prototypes with actual products, not only to test the functionality of the display stand but to gauge visually if everything is as expected.
We have a large setup facility onsite in Cambridge to demo everything before production alongside our new office in London.
Once the prototypes are signed off, and production prices have been agreed upon, we’ll work with our global supply chain to manufacture your display stands. We’ll talk with you through the process and keep you updated with producing timings as we go.
We’ll also work with external QC professionals to ensure the quality of your displays meet expectations. We’ll finalise packaging details during production and, if required, carry out drop testing.
We work with various shipping agents for UK and global destinations. We’ll happily take care of bulk shipping for you or work with your own shipping team to enable the easy collection of goods.
We’d love to hear about your point of purchase project. If you think we can help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
